HEY! Thanks for visiting. I'm Joe (or Joby)
- born 7/30/73 in Ashland, OH. I grew up there..had a fine childhood, then ran as fast as I could
out of Ohio. I landed in North Carolina where I attended UNC Charlotte. I bumped around a little after that attending
U of Toledo, Miami U (of Ohio), ST Pete JC and finally graduated from the University of South Florida with a Management
Information Systems degree. One snag..I realized about then that I don't like computers..so scrap that whole idea. I enjoyed
college quite a bit. I spent a large portion of my free time traveling with my best buddy Jay. I was very
into a band called Indigo Girls...saw them over 100 times in 30+ different states and also caught as many Grateful Dead shows as possible. The Dead are still
my music of choice and the Indigo Girls are also still a part of my life in that I run a large site dedicated to them which includes a music collectibles section
that's responsible for a good portion of my income. Fall 1999 - Jay and I are embarking on an indefinate wander around the world. My goals are to see and experience as much as possible and meet a ton of people, one of which will hopefully
be a great girl. I've had some great relationships in the past..the two most substantial being Nicola - a New Zealand girl I met on the net and lived with for 9 months and Candace. Candace and
I lived together for nearly 2 years and will hopefully always be close.
As far as interests go..musically I like quite a wide variety, but some of the highlights are: Grateful Dead, Dar Williams, Willie Nelson, Indigo Girls, Neil Young, New Order, Phish, Michelle Malone, The Cure, Sarah McLachlan, Bob Dylan, Allman Brothers, Beastie Boys, and most anything live. I know I said I liked a wide variety and then proceeded to list mostly classic rock stuff, but it's what came to mind :)
I enjoy playing basketball, tennis, ping pong, pool, baseball, volleyball as well as swimming, taking walks and throwing darts.
I really regret not being a bookworm as a kid..my Jeopardy skills have certainly suffered. Nonetheless, I love trivia and gathering knowledge. I love documentary programs..particularly Lonely Planet and Adventure Bound on the travel channel. For authors, I enjoy the Beat writers - mainly Kerouac, Burroughs and Ginsberg, but find myself gravitating more towards their actual lives than their writing.
I've always been a collector and my current wallet drainers are travel books, grateful dead live discs, buddhist prayer wheels, Beat generation literature, and laser discs.
Looking towards the future, I'd love to make my living as a writer, and be a photographer on the side. I plan to make traveling a lifestyle and will hopefully be able to incorporate some sort of business venuture into it. I am most certainly an entrepreneur at heart and will probably never hold a '9 to 5' job. Above all else, I hope to fall in love.
